After hours of searching I finally found it and set the value to the SE max of 20K and the server started successfully. I restored a world from Torch to a Keen server once and this sync distance value was set too high from Torch in the config file. The Keen SE dedicated server enforces this max value in their UI whereas Torch does not. For example, I recall there is (was?) an inherent sync distance of 20k meters for SE server. SE can do those things, too but most require admin intervention.īut anything they add to SE may not make it to torch right away or even at all. Torch seems to be better at automated stuff where, assuming SE updates dont "break" it, it can tell people when it's restarting with a countdown to live players, run voxel cleanups, delete unwanted garbage/NPC grids and even take commands from players for some stuff like fixing stuck grids or quantum hanger, etc, using plugins. I've run both extensively and there are pros and cons to each.
